Compare and Contrast by Krystalena Dayton -

Two places I have shopped at are Wal-Mart and Pets Mark. They are both stores. You buy things from both places. You can buy food at both stores, but at Wal-Mart you can buy for both you and your pets, and at Pets Mark you can only buy food for your pets. At both places you can buy treats, cages, and toys for your pets. You can buy dogs, cats, fish, birds, snakes, and other animals at Pets Mark, but not at Wal-Mart. You can take your pets in Pets Mark, but you cant in Wal-Mart. There are so many differences from these two places, and not much of the same things.

First, I would suggest that they should move.   Then I would constantly remind them to have their cars full of gas so they could leave in a hurry.  When driving, they should not go over 35 mph because if you go too fast, you will stir up the ash and clog your engine.  If you live on an island with a volcano, you should have a boat ready to go.

Civics, Local Governments by Victoria Nabours -

In the strong mayor system he or she has the power to hire and fire city officials without the permission of the council. The council's and mayor's powers are more equal than the weak mayor system. The mayor can veto ordinances passed by the council. In the weak mayor system he or she cannot make appointments and cannot fire anyone from their positions without the councils approval. The mayor must share powers with the council.

NORMANDY AMERICAN CEMETERY

The WWII Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is a Cemetery and memorial in Colleville-sur-Mer , Normandy , France , that honors American soldiers who died in Europe during WW II.

In June, 1944, the U.S. First Army established the temporary St. Laurent cemetery, the first American cemetery on European soil in WW II. France has granted the United States a special, perpetual concession to the land occupied by the cemetery.

The main body of the cemetery is rectangular with the main paths laid out in the pattern of a Latin cross.

The cemetery is located on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach. One of the landing beaches of the Normandy Invasion. It covers 172 acres, and contains the remains of 9,387 American military dead, most of whom were killed during the invasion of Normandy and ensuring military operations in WW II. The graves face westward, towards the United States.

There are 1,557 names of Americans who lost their lives in the conflict but could not be located or identified are inscribed on the walls of a semicircular garden at the east side of the memorial.  In the center is a bronze statue entitled Spirit of American Youth.

Normandy Cemetery has been featured in 2 movies. One was The Omen, and the other was Saving Private Ryan.

Civics State Governments 2 by Dalton Sannes -

Licenses are important. States require licenses to make sure that only qualified people do certain things. For example, you would not want someone who did not know anything about health being your doctor. This would be very dangerous, because they prescribe medicine. Doctors must go to college for years before getting a license to practice medicine. To drive you need a license, because you need instruction before driving. If you get to many driving tickets, you can lose your license. This helps keep people from driving poorly. Hunters must get a license because in order to hunt, you must pass a hunters safety course. There are many other things you need a license for. Some of these things are fishing and teaching.
